Why is my dell xps 17 taking so long to come?!?

for the last 2 weeks my order status says 'work in progress', which means there 'preparing it for production', if it takes this long to PREPARE it how long could it take to actually make it?! my estimated delivery date is in two days and i'm very disappointed they're supposed to be an effective multinational company, i wanted it before the end of my vacation :( is this a problem or normal for them?
